Front Page Express

This is the old standy that used to come with Internet Explorer, but for some reason Microsoft decided not to include it anymore. I have a stand alone version here for you to download. I do a website where I have to update an auction page every month using tables for the auction list. I find a WYSIWYG type editor easier and quicker to do that sort or work and have been using Front Page Express to do that page. You can find all sorts of tutorials on line for this program to help you get started making web pages of your own.

Arachnophilia

This is my favorite editor, I use this program extensively for all my web pages that I do. This is not a WYSIWYG type editor and once you understand HTML code you will probably find this program very easy to use. This program was recently re-written in Java to make it cross platform compliant and you can download that version here.

My favorite version is 4.0, for some reason the new java version just doesn't seem to work correctly on my computer, and with me being very familiar with 4.0, I decided to stay with it.

NVu

It is pronounced N View and it stands for New View. This is an open source WYSIWYG editor and I am currently trying it out, and so far it seems like a real good editor. With it being open source, it is constantly being improved and is free and has versions for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems. You can get a copy of this program here.

AOLpress

AOLpress is a WYSIWYG editor made by (you guessed it) AOL. This is a pretty good editor, I have used it in the past and found it easy to use and if I remember correctly it put out pretty decent code, but don't hold me to that, I haven't used this program for several years. You can give it a try and see if you like it. It is free but I don't know if it is supported anymore, but there are numerous tutorials for this program available on line.

1st Page 2000

Eversoft's 1st Page 2000 is not a WYSIWYG type editor, but it is one of the better editors and has a lot of real good features in it. I have tried it in the past and found it to be a quality editor. It is free and has 3 development modes, easy, expert and hardcore depending upon your experience level. You can customize the keyboard shortcuts and toolbar buttons and also have dockable or floating toolbars. It will do just about anything you will ever need for web design and you can download it here.

Stone's Webwriter

This is by no means a complete listing of editors, there are several more out there on the web that might work better for you. I would try several different one's and see which one works best for you. If you find a real good one, let me know and I'll take a look at it and might include it on this page.
